Another aspect of this concept is a programme under which BAWAG P.S.K. grants loans to private customers to finance renovation work that will improve the energy balance of their home. This programme has generated a great deal of demand, and numerous customers have already taken this opportunity to improve the quality of their life.

As part of its "Unternehmen Österreich" initiative, BAWAG P.S.K. extended roughly EUR 1 billion in low-cost credit to Austrian communities to finance infrastructure modernisation projects. Roughly EUR 600 million made it possible to complete some 540 infrastructure projects in 2010, including the renovation of the secondary school in Saalfelden.

FORMAT and Women EntrepreneursFORMAT and Women Entrepreneurs

A contest was held in cooperation with the financial magazine FORMAT to find women with creative and promising business ideas that do not conform with "traditional" women's careers. And plenty were found. The workshop was held with respected trainers in areas including finance, market research, law, taxes, presentation, rhetoric and advertising, all of which are important for setting up a new business.

Online Account Box

A new product that is not tied to a branch, and with a lower account management fee. All transactions are completed over the Internet. The Online Account Box (Online-Kontobox) also offers more attractive terms and is available around the clock, even when the bank is closed.

Non-Profit Housing ConstructionNon-Profit Housing Construction

BAWAG P.S.K. Wohnbaubank is the fifth largest provider of financing for non-profit housing construction in Austria based on market share. We also play a key role in social housing construction. These housing construction projects (including the Sonnenpark Rust PRO MENTE REHA centre for psychosocial health) are financed primarily from the funds raised through our Wohnbaubank bonds, and 2010 was again a very successful year with EUR 370 million in new issuance.

Association of Austrian Savings AssociationsAssociation of Austrian Savings Associations

The 3,800 savings associations and savings pools with over 260,000 savers in Austria increased the volume of assets under management to over EUR 2 billion in savings deposits and EUR 500 million in financing. BAWAG P.S.K. is highly successful with these particular target groups with custom-tailored services such as the VÖS Card/Company Service Card.

Youth Campaign

BAWAG P.S.K. launched an interactive youth campaign on the social networking platform Facebook under the motto "Born to be first" (Born to be vorn). The group Boys faced off against the group Girls. In addition to communicating our product messages, the initiative included online games in which participants could collect points. The points were converted into Euros at the end of the campaign, and a total of EUR 5,000 was donated to the Schmetterlingskinder association for children suffering from epidermolysis bullosa.

Business Customer Centres Become Established

The new Business Customer Centres began operating under the motto "Everything you need from BAWAG P.S.K." The centres cover the private and business-related needs of their clients,and generated a great deal of positive response. The Small Business unit in Vienna was restructured, and now operates with the three customer segments "service", "individual" and "premium". This new structure and approach is to be implemented in the other provinces in 2011. BAWAG P.S.K. held Think Business events in Upper Austria, Styria and Carinthia. The events were very successful and covered topics including the new profit exemption, company pensions, the POS payment terminal campaign, the extensive services offered by the BAWAG P.S.K. Business Customer Centres, leasing as a financing alternative, and the products of BAWAG P.S.K. Versicherung and BAWAG P.S.K. Invest.

Corporate Bonds

BAWAG P.S.K. again assisted many corporate customers in their bond issuance activities in 2010. A total of eighteen issues were floated on the Austrian market. BAWAG P.S.K. was involved in fourteen of these bonds, enabling our Bank to cover over 70 per cent of the issue volume. By assisting with these issues, BAWAG P.S.K. successfully enables its clients to tap a different form of business financing than traditional credit products.
